Corrosion Behavior of Stainless Steels in CO2 Absorption Process Using Aqueous Solution of Monoethanolamine (MEA)

چکیده

The corrosion behavior of two stainless steels (316L and 304L) was evaluated using a CO2-loaded aqueous solution 30 wt.% monoethanolamine (MEA) with view to simulating related mechanisms in amine treatment procedures. Corrosion experimentally as function CO2 loading temperature, electrochemical techniques (polarization curves, cyclic polarization, EIS measurement). results reveal that the MEA containing creates favorable environment for both steels. rate is accelerated when temperature loaded rises, which attributed thermal degradation MEA, thus causing higher kinetics cathodic reactions at temperatures. More specifically, SS 304L almost doubled increased from 25 °C 40 quadrupled rises 80 °C. For 316L, becomes threefold sixfold upon increasing load °C, respectively. overall 316L lower respect same conditions. essential dependency on type (unloaded solution) demonstrates process are controlled by diffusion mechanism.

Mass Transfer Modeling of CO2 Absorption into Blended MDEA-MEA Solution

In this research, the thermodynamics and mass transfer of CO2 absorption has been studied in a mixture of MDEA-MEA amines. A relation is presented for mass transfer flux in the reactive-absorption process. For this purpose, the effective parameters on the mass transfer flux were investigated in both liquid and gas phases. Then, using dimensional analysis with the Pi-Buckingham theorem, the effe...

Plantwide Control of CO2 Capture by Absorption and Stripping Using Monoethanolamine Solution

In this study, plantwide control of an absorption/stripping CO2 capture process using mono-ethanol-amine was investigated using dynamic simulation. In this system, CO2 removal ratio is influenced by operating variables such as lean solvent rate and lean solvent loading, which is in-turn determined by reboiler duty in the stripper. Moreover, we found that the long term stability of the system ca...

A Corrosion Study of Grain-Refined 304L Stainless Steels Produced by the Martensitic Process

AISI 304L austenitic stainless steel with different grain sizes of 0.5 -12 μm was obtained through the martensitic process. Corrosion behavior of different samples was investigated in a 0.5M HCl solution using open circuit potential, potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests. Also, the correlation between the grain size and pitting corrosion resistance was as...

Effect of Secondary Phase Precipitation on the Corrosion Behavior of Duplex Stainless Steels

Duplex stainless steels (DSSs) with austenitic and ferritic phases have been increasingly used for many industrial applications due to their good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance in acidic, caustic and marine environments. However, DSSs are susceptible to intergranular, pitting and stress corrosion in corrosive environments due to the formation of secondary phases. Such phases are...

Statistical Approach on Corrosion Behavior of Dissimilar Welds of A387-Gr91/AISI316 Steels with PCGTAW Process

In this study, an attempt was made to minimize the corrosion rate and maximize pitting potential of dissimilar metal welded joints of A387-Gr91/AISI316 steels. Process parameters of the pulsed current gas tungsten arc welding (PCGTAW) including of peak current (P), background current (B), pulse frequency (F), and on time percentage (O) were chosen as the influencing factors on corrosion behavio...
